With the economy tanking and competition heating up for the jobs that are available, more and more people are finding themselves requiring professional resumes in order to stand out and have a fighting chance.

You have package options. If we do everything electronically, without getting together, you pay by credit card using paypal and it is up front. I also email you my interview tips document.

Most people opt to come to the office. That way you can choose from several different kinds of paper and I do your printing. The price is the same, $50, but you save money using my paper and ink, plus you get some envelopes (large- never fold or staple a resume) and customized return address labels. I will also put your documents on cd for you, so after your initial package you can print or alter your documents to suit the position for which you are applying. It also makes it easier for you to apply for jobs via email and online. You get a paper copy of the interview tips. Either way, I can fax your resume anywhere you want it to go at no extra charge. Just call or email the fax number.

Many job postings specify applying by email or fax. ALWAYS APPLY SPECIFICALLY AS REQUESTED. It is the first test you will need to pass to prove that you can follow instructions. Please don’t assume you can circumvent it by dropping off a paper resume. You will be sabotaging your job search.

I will need your work history, including the dates you were employed at each place, the duties you had and the skills that you learned. You need a minimum of 3 work related references since nobody trusts personal references anymore. You will also need to do some homework before we print cover letters. “To Whom it May Concern” and “Dear Sir or Madam” are the kiss of death and those resumes won’t be read. We are all vain. We want to know someone took the trouble to discover our name. It says you are thorough and it instantly gives a good impression. Impression is what makes someone keep reading. Your cover letter needs to sell you in 30 seconds; it is the most important piece of advertising that you will ever have.

It is always my preference to meet my client. I get impressions of you that I can weave into your resume and cover letter. Having done dozens of resumes, from executive and middle management to line worker, I have only met three people I would not personally hire. If I believe in you it is much easier to write a dynamite cover letter.

With the paper resume package payment is made before any documents leave my office. I do accept cheques but I don’t have a debit terminal yet. That may be happening down the road.
